About Our Organic Wisconsin Farm
Our Sustainable Organic Farm
We are Stacey and Tenzin Botsford, first generation farmers dedicated to the idea that caring for the land and growing high quality organic food can be mutually beneficial for the farm, the farmers, and the community. We would like to regain our relationship to the land and to the food that we eat while helping to revitalize small farms in Central Wisconsin.
Before farming, we spent 10 years working as professional river guides in several countries around the world. During this time we saw many different ways to live and noticed that the happiest people lived close to the land and were engaged with their communities. They worked hard, took pride in what they did, and prioritized their families. We decided to be farmers because we want to be connected to our community, be proud of the work that we do, and create a healthy, happy place for our family, our employees and their families, and our community. We are also worried about the toll that industrial scale agriculture is taking on our environment, our economy, and our health, and we are committed to being part of the solution.
Meet the Team
Red Door Family Farm couldn’t exist without the helping hands of our dedicated and delightful long-term employees.
Tenzin Botsford
Owner, Fertility Management, Field Prep, & Cultivation
As written by farm kid Iris: “Daddy is a very hard-working Daddy. He works very hard to make us all healthy and happy. He loves to cook and he’s the worm master. He loves to drive the tractor and play with me and Leona. His favorite color is red and he’s great at ice skating. He’s a loving and caring Daddy and we love him.”
Stacey Botsford
Owner, Daily Operations, Staff Management, Marketing, & Sales
As written by farm kid Leona: “Mom is a very loving, caring and kind person. She is hardworking and a very fun person to know. She likes many things such as art, reading, and caring for loved ones. I’m not sure how, but she always seems to be right about things and I think that something that she was definitely right about was creating a farm with dad that would not help just them, but help their entire community. We all love Mom. She's the best mom I know.”
Ashley Lange
Packshed Manager
Ashley is our powerhouse in the packshed. Nearly everything that is grown on our farm passes through her hands before it heads out into the world. She is a mastermind in the coolers, organizes, prioritizes, and somehow gets it all done while listening to terrible 90s country music. Her daughter, Jane, joins the Botsford girls for summers of fun with their babysitter Abby.
Maddy Leischer
Maddy is the newest addition to our farm crew! She did a farm tour while she was a student at NTC and liked us so much she decided to stay. Maddy stays busy soaking up all the knowledge and learning the ropes, but still finds time to teach us about cool rocks and keep us laughing. She is a friendly face at the farmers markets, so say hello next time you see her!
Ethan Koch
Field Manager & Irrigation Specialist
When he’s not running around the farm managing the ins and outs of the farm day, Ethan can be found training for marathons. This guy has unending energy, a positive attitude in all situations (and weather), and is an absolutely wonderful person to be around. He also grows all of the potatoes on our farm as his own personal project.
Alex Spaulding
Field Manager & Market Manager
Alex is a familiar face at the farmer’s market and is also a key player in the field. We count on her organizational skill and her eye for quality to uphold our high standards. In her free time, she grows flax to process and spin into linen. She also enjoys weaving, swing dancing, and has great taste in books. Alex grows the meat chickens on our farm as a personal side project.
Maggie Breitenmoser
Maggie has worked for us since she was 11 years old. It would be an understatement to say that she has come a long way! She is happy to help wherever she is needed, but usually can be found as Ashley’s right-hand lady in the packshed and will be a regular at the farmers markets. Maggie is also going to college at University of WI Stout and studying animation.
Farm Kids Lilah, Leona, Jane, & Iris
Happiness & Laughter Ambassadors
The farm kids remind us all not to take ourselves too seriously. They make us laugh, bring us snacks, and demand we quit work on time. The lineup: Lilah age 13, Leona age 12, Jane age 10, and
Iris age 9.
Abby Breitenmoser
Best Babysitter That Ever Was
Abby started babysitting the Botsford girls when Iris was just 10 days old! She has been a key part of our family and the success of the farm. This woman has her hands full with 4 wild farm kids, but always seems to find joy in their shenanigans. Between the pool, the library, and the forest, these kids come home with tales spun from Abby’s bottomless imagination.
Farm Dogs Tilly & Leila
Steer Fear Into the Deer & Snuggles
Tilly is black and white. She’s a good girl who loves to harvest and eat corn on the cob and watermelons, and hates gunfire and fireworks.
Leila, Alex’s dog, is all black (with a little gray on her snoot, but we don’t talk about that). She is also a good girl who loves really big bones that she gets all to herself. If any dog on the farm is going to catch a rabbit (preferred) it will be Leila.
Farm Cats Daisy, Kimchi, Eugene, & Linus
Rodent Management & Snuggles
Daisy is serious business. We’d pick her first in kickball.
Kimchi is cute but worthless when hunting. She leans hard on the kibble.
Eugene is the most handsome of the cats and handles hoophouses 3 and 4 for mice. He pays his rent in rodent management.
Linus is a baby and acts like a baby. Also very cute.
